Over the years Kentucky Bloodhound SAR has lost some members. This page is dedicated to them.

May they rest in peace and await our union at the rainbow bridge.

  • Artie Goodman

Artie was one of the original founders of Kentucky Bloodhound SAR. He has many years working in SAR along side his wife and current group president, Toni Goodman. He passed away in 2010 after a brief battle with cancer. His spirit will live on in the members of the team.

  • Maggie May

Maggie May was one of the first search dogs to work on the team. She was an amazing challenging bloodhound with a spirit like no other. She was handled by Toni and credited with many finds over her 9 years of service. She is missed terribly by the team and community.

  • Jasper

Jasper started with group at 6 weeks old in 2009, handled by Stephanie. He was quite the character, often accused of being part Great Dane due to his enormous size! He passed away in 2014 from Lymphoma.

  • Tracker

Tracker started with the team in 2010 handled by Judy. He quickly became a star as an unstoppable tracking machine! Tracker was a force to be reckoned with and fought a long hard battle against lymphoma. He sadly succumbed to his cancer in 2015, but will always be remembered by the team as top dog!

  • Jack

Jack was our team’s first certified human remains detection dog. He joined our team with Nan in 2014. In his short 5 years on the team he brought closure to countless families. Jack passed away unexpectedly in 2019. He is missed by all on the team.

  • Red Ruby

Ruby was quite the character. Originally handled by Artie, she took a short break after his death. Toni picked up her lead in 2011 and Ruby didn’t slow down or stop until she was forced into retirement in 2014 due to ailing joints and overall health. Ruby passed away in 2019 and has been sorely missed by the team.

  • Ares

Ares had a personality that matched his namesake, the God of War. There was no stopping this pup when he decided on something. He lived for the search and was amazing at it. Ares started his SAR career in 2010 at 6 weeks old handled by Stephanie. He was retired in 2018 due to bad arthritis in his neck. Even with the pain he wanted nothing more than to go on the search. Ares passed away in 2021.

  • Ambush

Ambush joined the team with Cathy in 2016. He was a battle axe running thorough anything and everything on the trail to find his man. He never let anything or anyone hold him back. He was an amazing search dog! Ambush passed away in 2021 after a short battle with cancer. He is greatly missed!

  • Ester

Ester joined the team with Annette. She was a very valuable member and the sweetest little girl who was always ready for the search whether it was on land or water. She never let us down, and provided closure for countless families. She passed away in 2021. She is sorely missed by our team, her fire department team, and the community.

  • Hunter

Hunter joined the team in 2016 with his handler Tony. He was the most laid back bloodhound until it was Go time! Hunter was an amazing trail runner and had many successful searches. His death came unexpectedly in 2022. He is missed by all on the team.
